WHAT IS MY PET FED?
IAMS, IAMS Lamb and Rice, IAMS Less Active and Bil Jac are considered “house specialties”. If your pet has a different diet at home, we suggest you bring your own food so we don’t encounter digestive problems from a change of food.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
You may bring toys but we suggest not bringing a favorite toy in case it would get lost. Pets are given Bil Jac biscuits every afternoon but treats from home are welcome. You do not need to bring bedding as guests have comfortable, off-the-floor Kuranda pet beds. Sanitized, stainless steel water and food bowls are provided.
WHAT IF MY PET GETS SICK?

Please inform us of any medical problems – past or present. Stress can aggravate past medical problems and it helps us to know what symptoms to watch for.

Our trained personnel use a series of checklists to closely monitor each guest’s daily food consumption, elimination and medications and problems are noted. If your pet is in need of veterinary care, your veterinarian will be contacted and his/her advice followed. If he/she is not available, we will contact area veterinarians we work with, however, in an emergency situation, your pet will be rushed to the closest emergency veterinarian hospital.
Our staff is qualified to administer medications as instructed by owners and all medications are charted to insure proper dosages and times of administration. Prescription foods and diets will be given per owner instructions.
WILL MY PET BE EXERCISED?

Our indoor facility gives pets the luxury of full use of their run 24 hours a day while allowing our kennel personnel to closely monitor their activities.

The All-Inclusive rate includes two 20 minute sessions each day in a large run outside to enjoy the fresh air and the extra space to jump around and bark..

The ten-minute Nature Walk on the Path-in-the-Woods with a Pet Pal provides your pet added attention and exercise. This relaxing walk is particularly beneficial for the geriatric boarder to relieve stiffness.

Group Playtime is offered for small groups of “friendly” dogs to play together for an hour. Pets will be with dogs of similar size but must show no aggression. Animal Ark reserves the right to prohibit or remove any dog from group playtime for any reason; pet owners assume risk of injury resulting from group playtime.
Cuddle Time is ideal for the older or shy pet. A Pet Pal will sit in the run and hold or comfort your pet to make his/her stay more enjoyable.
CAN I ASK FOR A BATH OR GROOM FOR MY PET?

As a perfect vacation ending, be sure to schedule a grooming or bath appointment so your pet will arrive home not only well exercised, well rested with fond memories of Animal Ark Pet Resort, but looking good, too! We have discounted kennel bath prices for the dogs who board with us. If fleas are present on arrival, your pet will receive a flea treatment before entering the kennel area and the additional charge will be added to your bill.
HOW CAN I PREPARE MY PET?

Board your pet for short, frequent periods while young. If your pet is older and has never been boarded, we suggest one or two “day stay” experiences prior to an extended stay so they know you will come back for them. When checking in your pet, don’t prolong good-byes – it only confuses the pet. Be cheerful and positive; our pets do understand our moods and what we say. We do ask that you tell us about special needs such as recent surgery, is afraid of thunderstorms/fireworks, dislikes men/women, is protective of food, is deaf, or blind, etc. We make notations in our file for future stays.
WHAT ABOUT IMMUNIZATIONS?

We do everything possible to keep your pet healthy and happy. To insure an infection and parasite free environment, the following immunizations are mandatory for dogs:
Rabies, Distemper, Parvo and Bordatella (kennel cough)

All immunizations must be current and you must supply us with immunization records from your veterinarian.
Our goal is to make your pet’s boarding stay at Animal Ark pleasant and safe and to give you peace of mind while you are away. Some frequently asked questions are:
